Richard Williams-Bulkeley has spent years building up a library of filming locations across North Wales. For most of that time, he was also searching for the right way to manage and share them — something that would be professional enough for the industry, but practical enough to actually use day-to-day.

He looked at building a dedicated website, tried SmugMug, and explored other image-focused tools. None of them gave him what he needed.

What he was looking for

Richard came in with a clear set of requirements built up over years of frustration:

  • Easy to use — practical without specialist knowledge
  • Flexible — adaptable to how he actually works
  • Function-rich — not a basic gallery, but a proper tool
  • Slick and fast — something that wouldn’t slow him down
  • Professional-looking — credible enough to share with productions
  • Mapping fully integrated — including Google Maps and What3Words
  • Reasonably priced — viable for an independent operator

Two years of searching. One tool that met all of them.

In Richard’s words

“For a couple of years I have been looking for a way to manage my locations and their associated images to then communicate them to the Film and Media Industry. I investigated building a website, SmugMug and other image related options but nothing gave me what I wanted.

At last I have found what I have been searching for and more. SuperScout met all my requirements. After 2 short sessions I have got to grips with the functionality (and I am a 57 year old location owner!) and am seeing the benefits every time I use the system. It really is fantastic — so simple and intuitive but bursting with really great features for location owners, location managers and scouts alike. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

In addition you have provided superb support and added some great functionality I hadn’t expected, for example the Past Productions Page. The speed of your development is brilliant and you and your team really understand the Film and TV locations world, its needs and challenges. SuperScout is a joy to use.

Thank you so much for all your help and please pass on my thanks to your team.”

The result

A library that was previously difficult to share and manage is now searchable, professionally presented, and easy to keep up to date. The integrated mapping — including What3Words — means productions get the precise location information they need from the first share.

And because the tool is genuinely easy to use, Richard is actually using it — which is the part that all the other tools failed to deliver.
